Stories predate television, the internet and social media, but they're a big part of the modern marketing landscape. Social media is-or should be-a big part of your marketing strategy, no matter what line of business you're in.
Social media storytelling can increase reach and brand awareness and help you gain new followers. However, there is a great deal of noise out there.
If you don't attract attention, your message is going to be lost in a sea of other competing messages.
When we're attempting to connect and engage with our followers, customers and potential customers, it's essential to remember that we're not talking at people or simply posting products or services.
Think of this as a chance to narrate your brand, to start a conversation about who you are and what you offer.



Here's 3 tips to help bring storytelling into your social media marketing strategy:
Tip #1: Be Human
People are going to connect with people first, not brands. Share what's happening in your world with your followers, what you're learning and what's exciting you. Reinforce your brand's message, your mission and what you stand for.

That said, only share things that you want the whole world to know! Once you put something out there, it's out there for everyone to see-and snapshot and share-so make sure it's well-thought out and appropriate.
Tip #2: Create Value
Your creative has to have intent, which isn't necessarily to make leads or sales. Think of ways to inform, entertain or surprise your audience.
Provide people with unique and interesting content, like blog posts, articles, infographics, videos or eBooks on platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.
Offering resources is one of the top ways to attract attention and followers. Inviting your community to be part of your brand is an ideal way to get them engaged with your resources.
For example, if you're an accountant trying to increase your online presence and engagement, you could ask your followers to share their top reasons for hiring someone else to do their taxes.
Ask them to hashtag their responses with #taxhelp or #relaxingnottaxing or something else clever and short.
If you don't have many fans, you'll need to gain more followers by sharing relevant content from your industry, interacting with people and finding relevant users to follow.
Here's an example of a brand who did this well: Lululemon with their #justmymat campaign. It began with a woman doing yoga in different settings in an Instagram brand video. As a result, thousands of followers uploaded photos and videos of themselves practicing yoga all over the world while using the campaign hashtag.



Tip #3: Show, Don't Tell
Telling your brand story doesn't have to mean typing out a whole bunch of copy. Images and videos can be a great way to capture the essence of your branding. Some platforms centre around images (Pinterest and Instagram, for example).
Even the ones that don't have made changes to make social media storytelling easier, with more opportunities for photos, videos and albums.
If you're not sure where to get images, do some research on design apps and sites that let you use your own images or templates and backgrounds to create engaging posts for the various social platforms.

7 Headline Tips That Improve Lead Generation




Writing headlines should be a straightforward process. You want the audience to know what the benefits are of clicking through and reading what's behind the headline.
The headline should entice, inspire, and encourage your audience to do more.
1. Know Your Target Audience
Understanding the audience you want to attract with your headline is imperative in getting the headline worded correctly. The more you can narrow down the person in your mind, the easier it will be to create an effective headline. How to Renew Old Clients With Funny Emails



Most emails sent to renew past clients are as dull as stagnant pond water.
"Hi, haven't been in touch for some time since the Grimley project. Hope you are well. I've been having some great successes with recent clients and would love the chance to catch up."
You know, something boring like that. And you wonder why you don't hear back. They went comatose while reading.
There's one wacky little thing you can do differently to catch their attention and get a response. And virtually nobody is doing it because...
a) They don't know it actually works,
b) They don't know how to do it,
c) They are terrified of trying it.
And what pray tell is this "wacky little thing?"
Adding some humor to the email.
If you do, it will accomplish multiple things:
It will make them smile and make them more receptive to your message
It will make you seem more human, more relatable
It will make them trust and like you more
It will increase the chance that they finish reading the email
It will get a better overall response


So, what's not to like?
OK, so what exactly could you write in an email like this?
How about:
"It's been a long time since you've heard from me. I was kidnapped by Pygmies and held captive for several months. What Pygmies were doing in the Bronx, I have no idea."
It's silly, it's unexpected, and it's deranged. Now they're smiling and wondering what mischief you've been up to.
Now, also realize that you must have a pretty close relationship with a client to get away with this. You know them. You've joked around some and laughed together.
Humor will not work with humorless people. But hopefully you're not working with that subspecies of Neanderthal, right?
No, you work with smart, witty people who respond well to humor. So have fun with them.
The formula is simple. Mention that you've been out of touch for some time and then make up some crazy story, the sillier the better.
"I visited France and got stuck at the top of the Eifel Tower for several months. At least the food was amazing."


Let your imagination run free. If you know something about that client, say that they're a Chicago Cubs fan, incorporate that into your email:
"You haven't heard from me for awhile because the Chicago Cubs recruited me to be their bat boy and I've been on the road. I'll actually be in your town next week."
Try writing a few and run them by your spouse before you send 'em out. And then make sure to send the ones they hate the most. "Don't send that, they'll think you're crazy." Perfect!
Look, most people don't have the courage to do this, but I really want to dare you to be hysterical (as in hysterically funny, not uncontrollably emotional).
Try it out on a past client that you have a solid relationship with. I'm willing to bet you'll get a warm response.
And after that opening, you can continue with something like...
"Hey, would love to chat and see what you're up to. When in captivity, they took away my cell phone. But with my new found freedom I have some exciting things I'm working on that I'm sure you'll want to know about."
I dare you!
It will probably be the most memorable email you've ever written. And when you get a positive response - often with some reciprocating humor - you just might see what the heck I'm talking about.
By the way, you can end the email with something like this:
"Awaiting your baffled response."

How a post looks is important too. Add visuals that enhance the message and draw attention to the what you're trying to explain in the post. t makes sense to be concerned about the length of your blog content. You want it long enough so that you share all relevant information. However, you don't want it so long that it bores your reader into clicking away. That brings us to the commonly asked question, "How long should the perfect blog post be?"
In every case, no matter what niche you are in or what you are writing about, the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears provides the answer.
You probably are familiar with the children's story in question. One day a little girl, Goldilocks, came across the house of the 3 Bears. She knocks, no one answers, so she lets herself in. From porridge to chair to bed, she keeps experimenting until she finds the experience that is "just right". The Bears come home and frighten her, she runs away, and everyone lives happily ever after.
What Does Goldilocks and the 3 Bears Have To Do with Perfect Blog Post Length?
Your post length should be just right. It should not be one word longer than is necessary. However, it should not be one word shorter than it needs to be either. This means that before you hit the publish button, you should edit, edit, edit... and then edit some more. Take out any and all fluff. Remove some adjectives and almost all adverbs. Every word, sentence and paragraph should be there for a reason

Get to the point, while also providing some real value. When you think your blog post is ready to publish, read it out loud. Is it just another of the typical types of posts you read on the web every day? If so, go back and make it memorable. Solve a big problem. Read your competitor's posts. Once you have done that, see if you can't add more quality, not fluff, and beef your post up to at least 1,500 words. That is the length at which web content shows more engagement and interaction, social sharing and a higher click through rate than shorter content. Remember, don't add content just for the sake of meeting a particular quantity target.
On the other hand, if you can create a high quality, problem-solving, "better than the rest" post that is at least 1,500 words, with no fluff, you are well on your way to having a quality piece of content that will serve you and your audience well, one that is "just right".

Naming Your Blog - Good Blog Titles



Deciding on a good blog title and selecting a domain must be based on target keyword placement. With both Domain and a Good Blog Title you want to include at least one target keyword, but what is the target keyword?
Well that will depend on your Niche and there is a rather large list of options. But that will depend on you to decide on the niche, preferably something you love doing. Then simply think of the One Word that will best describe your blog. And then you also have to establish the search volume and level of competition for that keyword. Because any blog title must contain keywords with a high search volume and low to medium competition.
Therefore it is of utmost importance you create a free Google account and be able to use the Google Keyword Planner tool. Which is a free tool inside Google Ad-Words but you have to activate the Ad-Words account by funding it. No need to place any adds just yet because you merely need access to the arsenal of tools. Later on your blogging journey you will use many tools only accessible through your Google account. Like the Google Search Console and Google My Business, but that is a topic for another article.
The title must summarize the content which will decrease the bounce rate of your visitors. It immediately tells the visitor exactly what the blog is about. And it is also easy to remember with no exclusion to your domain name. It should not exceed 60 characters and must be as short and precise as possible. This is important for both title and blog post display window in Search Results.


Place that one target keyword with a high search volume as the first word in both blog title and domain name. That way when search engines crawl your blog the target keyword is clear. And they can categorise your blog more targeted.
